Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Beginning in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Every Pella® Product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. What impact will this have on you? Not only could you notice a decline in your heating and cooling costs, you will help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are specifically designed and customized for your home, meaning no two projects are alike. Our wide variety of products make it nearly impossible to discuss pricing without first understanding your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it helpful to send out a Pella sales representative who can give you a quoted project price after seeing the project site itself. To accelerate the process, your Pella® sales representative is equipped with a computer and a portable printer so that they can provide you with all the quote information you’ll need—just as soon as the sales representative has had a chance to consider the requirements of the task and aligns them with your vision.

In addition to offering a large range of high-quality products to select from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you great window and door products at affordable prices, offering you a chance to make the home improvements you want to while building great value into your Newport area home all the while.

Can I paint my vinyl windows?

The advantage of Pella's® vinyl windows is that you don’t need to. You can order the windows the color you want. We do not suggest painting your vinyl products, as this will end your warranty. Some paint companies claim that their paint can stick to vinyl, but it could destroy your windows if the wrong paint is applied or done incorrectly.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We advise that you should use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mixture or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. You can also mix your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Put the solution on a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. We do not recommend glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they could leave streaks or create a film that draws moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses dependable installers who are certified to install Pella doors and windows. They must complete a carefully crafted set of training courses so that your windows and doors are correctly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty guidelines. We find the best Newport-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before they can be hired, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully covered by liability and workers compensation insurance. Aside from Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your local Pella branch provides services and support that “big box” stores can’t provide. Our experts are highly-trained in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Using a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that you will have the strength of our whole team. We like to use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. You can easily contact your sales representative or our main office if you have any concerns and we will get to work resolving the issue.

Why is Pella® the right choice for my home?

There are several important reasons why Newport homeowners pick Pella for their replacement window and door needs. Pella is a privately owned, professionally managed company founded in 1925. Each of our high quality windows and doors are manufactured with care and serviced by Pella’s qualified Direct Sales Network. Unlike most other window and door companies who sell exclusively through retailers, Pella has dedicated windows & door stores the U.S. and Canada. This unique way of operating our business gives the homeowners in Newport a convenient and personal experience with the backing of a local to Newport, Pella-certified team. Whether you are considering the beauty of wood, the strength of fiberglass, or the low maintenance of vinyl—Pella has a high quality, energy efficient and durable solution.
